First National Bank has given me the worst service I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I am currently an unemployed student sitting with arrears in excess of R500 and counting. I have taken out no loans, I have not been using my account even.

Earlier this year I gave into FNB's aggressive marketing, promising the best customer service and satisfaction. For the first bit, I was able to use my account to purchase Android apps and keep my money safe. I had always deposited money regularly and had a positive balance.

I now sit here after having visited the Canal Walk branch to cancel my account without resolve. I wished to close my account so that my bank fees would not grow to such an amount that it would bite me in the *** later. Alas, my *** has been bitten and my account was not closed. Instead, the lovely lady REDUCED my monthly fees to R20 per month.

Did I mention I am unemployed? I cannot afford to pay off my negative balance because your fees are exorbitant, nor am I earning a salary to pay off said monthly R20. I always thought your slogan was "How can I help you?", perhaps you can help me by not putting me in debt at such a young age.
