| Had to replace front tyres on my vehicle, went to Speedy (my normal supplier) but they were out of stock. I requested a quotation from them in any event and then went to tyger wheel and tyre (TW&T).They managed to find two tyres and i replaced them the next day. I paid R12 000 for the two Bridgestone tyres, only to learn a few days later when receiving the quote from Speedy that i was charged R2 000 more per tyre by TW&T. I confronted the manager - Owen - who responded that because they do not normally stock the brand, they had several markups from middle men and therefore could not provide at the same prices as Speedy. I said fair enough, but TW&T were not transparent in advising me of this at the point of purchase. Had they given me the choice to decide upfront at that point, i would have waited for Speedy and saved R4 000. Managers response was that there was nothing they could do about it. I am also considering to take this case to the consumer council as well as the competition commission. 30% more per tyre is outrageous and not in line with good customer ethics. Needless to say, will never make us of TW&T EVER again, and so my friends and family | |||||
